Pat and I landed in Bath in early August at our friend Emma’s flat. Getting over jet lag (+11 hrs from Hawaii – +8 hrs from the US west coast) and taking a small breather were important. We had already been on the road for 3 months.

We visited Bath in April 2020 during the early weeks of the pandemic. The experience was dramatically different this time around. In 2020 – empty streets and shuttered stores. A ghost town. In August 2022, life had returned. The streets were full as were sites, pubs, sidewalk restaurants, and shops. It was great to see the town had come fully back to life.

Pat & I walked 20 minutes in to town and back everyday for two weeks. Those walks, talks and cultural adjustments helped plan and prepare us for the next destinations in Scotland.
